Choose the right jurisdiction for the policy

Our English-language articles focus on the United Kingdom. They cover local eligibility, UK insurers and network programmes, packaged bank accounts and overseas use of a UK policy. Country guides in French are available for Switzerland, Belgium, Québec, Luxembourg and several African markets. A provider’s presence in one country should not be taken as proof that the same policy is offered in another.

Check travel protection independently of residency

Worldwide cover describes where an insured event may occur; it does not necessarily permit a person living abroad to buy a UK policy. Read the residence requirements, any journey limits and the location to which a replacement can be sent. International students should pay particular attention to the eligibility wording. The residency and travel guides link to relevant UK resources rather than treating every English-language insurance product as interchangeable.

Three checks: insurance by country

  • Use UK documents for a policy arranged in the United Kingdom.
  • Check permanent-residence requirements before purchase.
  • Confirm the claim procedure while travelling.
